Sedation Dentistry in Kitchener, ON
If you’re feeling a bit anxious or nervous about seeing the dentist, we understand. Dental fear or phobia are one of the biggest reasons that prevent patients from seeing the dentist. However, even with good oral hygiene, it's possible to develop oral health problems, such as decay or gum disease. For this reason, dental checkups are important since the dentist can check and treat oral health problems before they become serious.
At Smaily Dental we offer two different types of sedation dentistry to keep you relaxed during your checkup:
Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide promotes relaxation while effectively reducing pain and discomfort. The gas is inhaled through a face mask that the patient wears over their face. There are minimal side effects and the sedative effects should be gone once you leave our office.
Conscious sedation allows you to stay awake during your procedure; however, you will be in a fully relaxed and calm state. You will be required to take a sedative about an hour before your scheduled procedure. By the time your procedure begins, you will be completely relaxed and comfortable. Because the sedative effects do take some time to wear off, you will need someone to drive you home following your appointment.
Dr. Smaily will help you to choose the appropriate sedation method for your needs. Contact our Kitchener Dental Office to learn more about our sedation methods.
